Unity in Diversity Essay English

India is a very vast and beautiful country. There is a lot of variety in her physical features. We have high mountains and deep valleys, gushing rivers and dry deserts. Parts of India get snowfall, while some parts are tropical and hot throughout the year.

India also has many castes, communities and languages. We have Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Parsis and Christians. We have a variety of languages. When one travels in a cosmopolitan city in India, one can hear various languages being spoken.

The diet of the people changes as we move from the North to the South. We have dark-skinned people as well as those who are light-skinned, vegetarians as well as non-vegetarians. There are different festivals being celebrated throughout the year.

There is even a difference in our seasons as we go from North to South, or from East to West. India is also a very colourful country, the colour being seen in the costumes, jewellery and the ways of the people. There is always something new to discover about our country.

But beneath all this obvious diversity runs a common thread of unity. This unity is most visible when the country is threatened by aggression from outside. At that time, everyone forgets the minor internal quarrels, and comes together as one to fight for the country.

We are aware that whatever be our language or the colour of our skin, whatever caste or community we may belong to, we are all Indians. We are proud of being Indians. True, there have been internal disturbances through the years.

But in which family do these types of things not occur? Just as every family has its share of quarrels and disagreements, so too does it happen in this large family of ours that is India. But what is important is that at the end of the day these quarrels and differences should be forgotten and forgiven.

India is a secular country, where people are allowed to practise their religion and all religions are respected. Being a democracy, the people are all equal and free to live their own lives, as long as they do not tread upon the rights of others.

It is our duty, as citizens of India, to see that this unity is preserved. At the same time, our cultural identities must be retained, and we must continue to follow those customs and traditions which are good.

There will always be forces, both external as well as internal, which will try to damage our unity. But if each citizen loves his country, and is patriotic, there is no need to be afraid of the future. We will surely make progress and become a strong and prosperous nation.

 Unity in Diversity Essay English

The perfect example of 'Unity in Diversity' the Indian society which comprises of various religions like Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Buddhist, Parsi etc. The Indian Culture may be easily termed as one of the most diversified cultures in the world.

It is a blend of many different flavors which tastes even better than the individual flavors. All these flavors coexist in perfect harmony to give a smooth taste of unity.

The Indian Culture is a perfectly woven fabric made up of many different threads belonging to different cultural, biological & geographical roots. But all these differences do not count before the biggest similarity. The feeling of oneness defies all the differences and makes each one of us stands together as Indians.

India as a nation has always been full of diversities. Many invaders have invaded India taking the advantage of these differences among the Indians. From Babar to the British, all of them have been benefitted from our differences and as a result, Indians today stand united because we've learned the lesson "United we stand & divided we fall” the hard way.

Diversity of India is evident from its physical features. From the snow-capped mountains to the deserts, from coastal regions to hilly areas, India is filled with diverse land scape from North to south & from East to West.

There are regions which have snow-fall, hilly terrains, planes, plateaus & costal regions. There are fertile plains & acid deserts. There are regions of heavy rain -falls & of scanty rainfall. There are regions where the climate is extreme & also where the climate is moderate.

In the different parts of the country people speak different languages follow different customs & traditions. They wear different clothes & practice various religions & worship different gods, further more their food habits are also different.

Inspire of all these differences the people of India feel proud to be Indians. They are bound by common cultural heritage & they share certain basic values. They have more or less same virtues & feelings. The same set of moral & mental qualities.

Their ways of life and more or less their mind set is also similar. When Indians go abroad, they call themselves Indian. India has witnessed many foreign invasions in the past. All the invaders belonged to varied cultures & different places.

When they came into contact with the Indian society, they became one with us to stay here to give a different composite culture. Indian culture is dynamic & tolerant, so it absorbed all the good & bad detents of foreign cultures leading to a synthesis of many cultures. Thus, over all there has become varied & richer.

Thus, we should strive to create an atmosphere where people can preserve the peculiarities of their class but without causing any hindrance to the great Indian culture.
