Dr. JAGDISH CHANDRA BOSE ESSAY ENGLISH
India had a tradition of producing world class scientists. C.V. Raman Chandra Shekhar, Vishweshwarayya and many others have enriched the tradition. Dr. Jagdish Chandra Bose is a prestigious diamond in that loft.
He was the first person to establish that plants have sensation. They sense happiness, pain, light, difference in temperature, appetite etc. Plants have feelings just like animals. He invented one tool, crestograph which measures the sensation of the plants.
This machine modifies the plant activities and plant sensation ten thousand times. But Dr. Bose was not satisfied and continued with his research. Finally, he invented a machine in which magnets were used, that modified the activities of the plants ten lakh times more.
This machine established beyond doubt that plants can expand, contract, respire and there is fluid circulation also, like animals. In short, plants have life. He also established that plants react to outer stimuli.
There is increase or decrease in their strength-which is governed by the atmospheric temperature, moisture etc. He was the first person to establish this data. He presented many papers in international conventions of the scientist.
Dr. Bose was born in 1758 in Dhaka District, East Bengal. He graduated from Kolkata and then for higher education he went to England. He was a student of Cambridge University. After that he came to India and worked as a professor in presidency college, Kolkata.
He was very modest in behaviour and was respected by everyone. He was a very good teacher and always tried to impart his knowledge to students who were interested in scientific work. He established 'Bose Science Centre' in 1915. He died in 1937 at the age of 79.
He was one who raised Indian head high at the international level. Nation salutes him with honour.
