Essay on Importance of Hard Work In English
Hard work is considered to be of less importance in our society. We do not appreciate a person doing arduous work. Actually, we cannot achieve anything in life without hard work. Work, whether physical or mental, has a dignity of its own.
Without the labour of farmers we would not have food. Without the labour of the people who toil endlessly breaking up stones and tarring them, we would not have roads; without the labour of factory workers we would not have clothes or any luxury that we take for granted.
Thus, it is not fair on our part to consider all these workers and labourers of less dignity. Hard work means success. If one works hard, success will automatically follow him. If we work with full concentration, we can achieve everything in life.
It's not good to think that we won't work because we are rich and only poor people should work hard. Every person should develop a habit of working hard and doing any kind of work. Gandhiji always said that all work have the same value and each person who works contributes towards making our world a better place.
He perched the dignity of manual labour and practiced it himself. He, together with all the people who lived in the ashramas, would run the kitchen, handle the garbage, clean toilets and sweep the floor. God always helps them who work hard.
Wealth or power gained without putting in our own efforts never gives satisfaction. Many great leaders and scientists belonged to poor families and spent their starting days in labourous work. Lethargy is the biggest enemy of man.
A lethargic person can never become successful in life. Hard work gives us psychological satisfaction as well as good health. If there is no exercise, we are definitely inviting lots of diseases.
Finally, according to John Ruskin, "a labourer serves his country with his spade, just as a man in the middle rank of life serves it with the sword, the pen or the lancet."
