Essay on Practice makes a Man Perfect
It is said that, 'if a rope in continuously rubbed against a stone, it will leave its marks on the stone'. Similarly if a fool practices a skill for a long time, he will also perfect it. In short, practice makes an unskilled person perfect.
Practice is needed equally in both physical and mental type of work. There is no substitute to hard work, labour and struggle. Consider any field of life - be it music, arts, research, technology or politics- only the determined and resolute create the best.
The carpenters, blacksmiths, tailors, everybody learn their skills through practice only. The son of a tailor cannot stitch an excellent suit the very first day. Similarly an engineer achieves efficiency only after practice.
Great people have achieved the heights of success only after continuous practice. Many examples can be stated to prove this. P.T. Usha, Kapil Dev, Tendulkar have become famous in their respective fields because of practice only.
Ekalavya did not get guidance from his guru, but he excelled in archery, Kalidas turned out to be a great poet after practice. Valmiki, who once was a dacoit, was then converted into a poet and wrote the great epic Ramayana. After loosing a number of elections, Abraham Lincoln finally succeeded and became the president of America.
It is a clear fact that practice is the key to success; but there are certain rules to this. Continuity, regularity and time limit must be observed when one is practicing. If a body builder does a thousand push ups in a day, and then does nothing for next 10 days it is not going to benefit him.
Patience is yet another virtue along with regularity. Some times regularity cannot be maintained due to some unavoidable circumstances. One should not lose patience in such circumstances. We should keep trying till we reach the goal.
Of course, we should always practice good things. Then only we will be successful. Life will be destroyed if we engross ourselves in practicing wrong things. Gambling, alcohol addictions or such kind of evil habits destroy our life.
But being in the company of good people, meditation and worshiping God helping others, respecting elders are good habits, and when practiced regularly they definitely make our life more cheerful.
