Essay on “Students and Politics”
A student means one who is very fond of learning new things, one who wishes to gain knowledge. Student's life is the primary step in everybody's life. This is the time of conceiving new ideas and concepts.
So should students participate in active politics during this period? This coin has two sides and both are equally admissible. Traditionally, a student is supposed to gather more and more knowledge and thereby acquire the skills necessary for shaping his or her future.
Some people say that the dirty politics that we experience today drifts away the students from achieving their goals. But according to others, students are the future of the nation. So they must be actively involved in the politics. Their young blood can easily eliminate bad practices from the society.
The country would be definitely on the path of progress if students participate in politics. People who are of the opinion that students should participate in politics cite the examples of our great leaders like Pt. Nehru, Netaji Bose, Bhagat Singh and Savarkar.
All these leaders were actively involved in politics when they were students. But the situation at that time was completely different. Achieving indepen- dence was the only goal of life. Today, the field of politics has become synonymous with corruption.
This creates a very bad impact on students mind and their intellect. To get education and improve skills should be the main objective of students. If he gets involved in politics, he won't be able to concentrate on his studies. If the foundation is not strong, how can one built a bright future? Such a student can neither take proper education nor can he become a good politician.
Politics has many unhealthy facets and students at a very tender age fall prey to these activities. Another side of this coin says that, every sector of life, say food, residence, travel, economy, industries, teaching has political cover.
How can we expect students to divorce from politics? This young generation shapes the future of the nation. If they are away from politics. how can they understand the problems that our country is facing? Ours being the democratic country, everybody has got a fundamental right to participate in government activities.
The young blood has got immense strength to change the entire system. So, one cannot keep students away from politics. On the contrary we should resort to balanced approach. Students should keep their politics restricted to educational field only.
They should be given proper knowledge about the problems the country is facing. The students should take care that their united power is not misused by the politicians. After preparing well, he or she should get involved into politics and should consider this as an opportunity to serve the nation. Then only he can be a good citizen of this country.
